The Apsotle Paul's understanding of the Law

Mike Tryban The Apsotle Paul's understanding of the Law. January 7, 2008
Here are some verses Paul talked on the Law.
Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. (KJV)
Here is the word for righteousness in the Bible dictionary to have a right standing with God, but why do we need righteousness.
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. (KJV)
So you see the only way we can fulfill God's is through righteousness. That's why Christ came to fulfill the moral Law so that we can have right standing with God, through Christ's blood.
Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. (KJV)
Did you just hear what Paul said we uphold the Law, through salvation Christ does not mean that the Law was no value. In fact justification by faith upholds the Law according to its right purpose and function. Through reconciliation with God and the regnerating work of the Holy Spirit, the believer becomes capable of honoring and obeying God's moral Law. (see Romans 8:2-4)
Listen to what Charles H. Spurgeon has to say about saving the lost. "My main bussiness is saving of souls. This one thing I do."
Also listen to what John Newton has to say about the Law.
"Ignorance of the nature and design of the Law is at the bottom of most religious mistakes." I don't know about you but to me that hurts. I mean we don't even talk about God's (moral Law that is the Commandments). 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. (KJV) The Bibles inspiration. "The authors, speaking under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit,...wrote on hundreds of controversial subjects with absolute harmony from the beginning to the end. There is one unfold stoy from Genesis to Revelation: the redemption of mankind through the Messiah the Old Testament through the coming Messaih, the New Testament from the Messaih that has come. In Genesis you have paradise lost in Revelation without understanding Genesis. It's all interwoven on hundreds of conrtoversial subjects. "Now here's the picture: 1,600 years 60 generations, 40-plus authors, different walks of life, different places, different times, different moods, different continents, three languages, writing on hundreds of controversial subjects and yet when they are brought together, there is absolute harmony from beginning to end... There is no other book in history to even compare to the uniqueness of this continuity."
"We account the Scriptures of God to be most sublime philosopy. I find more sure marks of authenticity in the Bible than in any profane history whatsoever." Qoute by sir Isaac Newton
The Bible is endorsed by the ages. Our civilization is built upon its words. In no other Books is there such a collection of inspired wisdom, reality, and hope." Qoute by Dwight D. Eisenhower
What better good work can there be than to use the Law of God to bring sinners to repentance? For the Biblical way to witness, see John 4:7-26. Galations 3:23,24 But before faith came, we were kept
under the law, shut up to the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (KJV)
Galations 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree: (KJV) Moses spoke of this in Deuteronomy 21:13 His body shall be not remain all night upon the tree, but you shall in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that your land be not defiled, which the Lord your God gives you for an inheritance. (KJV)
Romans 7:21-25 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. (KJV)
Never, never let us despise [The Law]. It is the sympton of an ignorant ministry, and unhealthy state of religion, when the Law is reckoned unimportant. The true Christian delights in God's Law." Qoute by J. C. Ryle
In speaking of the Christian's attitude to the Law, John Wesley said, " Yea, love and value it for the sake of Him from whom it came, and of Him to whom it leads. Let it be thy glory and joy, next to the cross of Christ. Declare its praise, and make it honorable before all men."
Mahatma Ghandi acknowledged the inabilty of his religion to atone for sin. Despite his moral lifestyle and good works, he admitted, "It is a constant torture to me that I am still so far from Him whom I know to be my very life and being I know it is my own wretchedness and wickedness that keeps me from him." All works-based religions lead to futility and death. It is only Jesus Christ that sinners can find forgiveness for their sins and deliverance from death and hell. By Ray Comfort
"To convince the worl of the truth of Christianity, it must first be convinced of sin. It is only sin that renders Christ intelligible." -Andrew Muray
Romans 7:4-9 Wherefore, my brethren, you also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that you should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit to God. For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit to death. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, You shall not covet. But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. (KJV)
"Even with light of the nature, and the light of the conscience, and the ligh of tradition, there are some things we should never have believed to be sins had not we been taught be the Law." Quote by Charles H. Spurgeon
"It is right for a preacher of the Gospel first, by revelation of the law and sin, to rebuke everything and make sin of everything that is not the living fruit of the spirit and faith in Christ, so that men may be led to know themselves and their own wretchedness, and become humble and ask for help. No one knows that lime has heat until he pours water upon it. Then the heat has occasion to show itself. The water did not create the heat in the lime, but it has made itself manifest. It is similiar to the will of man and the Law. Bye Ray Comfort
"I was alive without the Law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived. So it is with the work-righteous and proud unbelievers. Because they do not know the Law of God, which is directed against them, it is impossible for them to know their sin. Therefore also they are not amenable to instruction. If they would know the Law, they would also know their sin; and sin to which they are now dead would become alive in them." Bye Martin Luther
I observed, "Love is the fulfilling of the Law, and the end of the commandment." It is not only "the first and great" command, but all the commandments in one. "Whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, if there be any virtue, if there be any praise," they are all comprised in this one word, love. —John Wesley
1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. (KJV)
Psalms 119:97,100,105,111-112 O how I love your law! it is my meditation all the day. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep your precepts. Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Your testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart. I have inclined my heart to perform your statutes always, even unto the end. (KJV)
"Of this excellent use is the Law: converts the soul, opens the eyes, prepares the way of the Lord in the dessert, rend the racks, levels the mountains, makes a people prepared for the Lord." —Matthew Henry
Galatians 4:21-31 Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law? For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which genders to bondage,
which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, you barren that bear not; break forth and cry, you that travail not: for the desolate has many more children than she which has an husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what do the Scriptures say? Cast out the bondwoman and her
son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free. (KJV)
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under grace. (KJV)
"In Christ we are sheltered under the umbrella of grace from the rain of the Law. Paul is not saying that the Law has been done away with. Jesus Himself said that he hadn't come to do away with the Law. We establish the Law in Christ (Romans 3:31). We corrobrate it. It still remains as the standard of God's righteousness, and it will be the means by which he will judge the world." Bye Ray Comfort
Romans 5:4;19-21 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: For as by one man’s disobedience
many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin has reigned to death, even so might grace reign through righteousness to eternal life by Jesus Christ
our Lord. (KJV)
Romans 7:14;21-23 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. (KJV)
