I
was talking with a friend Emanuel, about the sinners prayer how it is
not found in the Scriptures. He seemed to agree with me. I also told
that ask Jesus into your heart is not biblical either.
In
fact the Scriptures say the exact opposite:
Jeremiah
17:9 The
heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can
understand it?
So
how it can it be that the sinners prayer is not biblical, simple you
need to understand all through Christian History, up until the 19th
century the sinners was unheard of.
So
lets stop doing unbiblical things like this.
But
let us do what the Scriptures teach Repent and Believe in the Gospel.
Mark
1:15 "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand;
repent and believe in the gospel."
Repentance
is Commanded by all from God
Ezekiel
18:30–32
"Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one
according to his ways, declares the Lord GOD. Repent and turn from
all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin. Cast away from
you all the transgressions that you have committed, and make
yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of
Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the
Lord GOD; so turn, and live."
Acts
17:30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all
people everywhere to repent.
Verses
For The Gospel
Is
good tidings of great joy for all people
Luke
2:10–11
And
the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good
news of great joy that will be for all the people. For
unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is
Christ the Lord. vv 31–32
That
you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for
revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel."
Sometimes
the Lord cheers and comforts the hearts of his people with smiling
and reviving providences, both public and personal. There are times
of lifting up, as well as casting down by the hand of providence. The
scene changes, the aspects of providence are very cheerful and
encouraging; their winter seems to be over; they put off their
garments of mourning; and then, ah, what sweet returns are made to
heavenly gracious souls! Does God lift them up by prosperity? they
also will lift up their God by praises. So Moses, and the people with
him (Exodus 15), when God had delivered them from Pharaoh, how do
they exalt him in a song of thanksgiving, which for the elegancy and
spirituality of it, is made an emblem of the doxologies given to God
in glory by the saints. Rev 15:1. - John Flavel Puritan
We
must stand our ground, and be stiff for ourselves against all
misjudgings. It is good to be zealously affected always in a good
matter, whether it respects the glory of God immediately and alone,
or whether it respects the credit of our brethren or our own. To be
famous in the world, and as those giants in the old world (Gen
6:4) renown, or, as the original text has it, men of name, is a very
great vanity; but to protect and preserve our good name is a great
and necessary duty. - Joseph Caryl Puritan
We
should have our thoughts on God.
By
often thinking of God, the heart will be enticed into desires after
him. Isa 26:8. “The desire of our soul is to your name, and to the
remembrance of you;” and see what follows, Isa 26:9 : “With my
soul have I desired you in the night; yes, with my spirit within me
will I seek you early.” Love sets the soul on musing, and from
musing to praying. Meditation is prayer in bullion, prayer in the ore
- soon melted and run into holy desires. The laden cloud soon drops
into rain; the piece charged soon goes off when fire is put to it. A
meditating soul is in proxima
potentia to prayer. - William
Gurnall Puritan
So
let me end with this let us keep our minds on God and attributes and
works Let us not get side tracked with silly little things but let us
focus on God and His Word. Amen!
